Dear all,
What will the Omni do in response and in support of the BlackLivesMatter
movement? I've had a few conversations around this question the over the
last couple weeks and I imagine others have as well.
This coming Sunday (Dec. 14th), we'll be hosting Catalyst Project
<http://collectiveliberation.org/> in the Ballroom for an event titled
"Black Liberation and White Anti-Racism in the Time of Ferguson." They've
sent out an invite
<http://us1.campaign-archive1.com/?u=2867d847f3&id=072f757718> to the
public and through their own networks, which has been viewed by more than
23,000 people. Over the past week I've met people who've been receiving
flyers to the event during the marches through Berkeley and Oakland, which
leads me to believe there will be *a lot* of people here, a lot of *new* people
from our wider community.
I'm helping to bottom-line this event and could really use your help!
1. Reply to this thread if you are down to help steward our space and
include your phone # (if you feel comfortable, send privately, etc.) as I
want to be certain we are able to generously host all the folks in our
community who will be coming to our space to respond to recent events
2. They'd like amplified sound and I'm not 100% certain what our current
situation is - where is our sound system? do we have one adequate for this
event? and can someone volunteer to run sound?
3. What has been the latest count of chairs at the Omni? do we need to get
more chairs?
with love
st
Hey Sudoers,
I just wanted to make sure you are aware that Backspace has officially put
forward our proposal for membership at the omni. If you have any questions
about the proposal please feel free to ask me or Margaretha.
You can read the full proposal here:

I've also attached it.

I think we should put a permanent sign on the entry door that says "Bikes
left outside may be stolen. Cars parked nearby may have windows broken."
does anyone object?

Maybe no one else drives, but I also got my window smashed last time I was

Hopefully we can install some better lighting outside at some point and
that will be helpful but in the meantime, please spread the word!

I'm going to scrap my confocal scanning acoustic microscope which I
never really use. If someone is interested in it let me know within a
few days.
It was mostly supposed to be a holdover until I got the SEM. It was
missing a head (since acquired) and I think the unit is complete.
I've never powered it up but, other than some very minor wiring issues
on the z axis (can be operated manually), I believe its complete and
functional. Beware that the granite linear stage is heavy, probably
at least 200 lbs.

Probably free to a good home, but cash/trades also appreciated"
hi again,
i'd like to sit down with our visionary pro-bono lawyer later this week or early next week.
consider this a thread to start collecting questions, which I'll sift through and ask.
could someone who helped get the last leg of the state taxes out the door mind dropping me a line to recapitulate where we are in that process?

Thanks Jenny! I helped take apart her beds today; she was very gracious
and grateful... she just needs a few pairs of hands to complete the job
tomorrow morning to move a few heavy things she can't do on her own. Added
a few folks here who I heard are nearby in case they have time to help.
Should probably be a 30-45 minute job.
