Ballotpedia is a website of peer-produced, nonpartisan guides to current
elections at the local, state and federal level. It's run by the Lucy Burns

They also have a standing job application in case you just want to submit

I've had an old Nexus 4 lying around my apartment for the last year
collecting dust, and realized it was plausible some sudo member might be
in a position where they need but lack a cellphone. Or, if not, it's
probably at the very least a neat spare device to do hacking with.
I was a little worried about just leaving it at the space -- it seems
like the kind of thing that both a) wouldn't be obvious that it's not a
personal item vs a community item, and b) an attractive and easy target
for theft (as per recent door-related discussions).
It's in good condition in its original box, and has the original
charger. The only hiccup is that the earpiece speaker seems to be dying
or maybe has loose wiring -- it's very quiet. However, the 3.5mm jack
and loudspeaker work fine.
Ping me if there's any interest; I'll bring it with me next time I'm at
sudo!

I wasn't going to name names, but yes...
Hello Sudoers-Meshers:
We are having Omni work parties for the last three Saturdays, and we have
postpone the wiring run from the point of entry to the Server area, only
because we don't have the cable. This line brings the phone+Internet to the
omni itself.
Guestimating the run is about 70' long.
But, if we can get a box of 500' or 1000' would be awesome, so that the
rest can be used by the Sudomesh projects as well.
Can someone help us out? If we get it by Saturday, I volunteer myself to do
this job on Saturday as part of the work party.
Many thanks in advance,
Daniel

We've been trying to move away from Godaddy for years. The problem is,
we don't control the account. The person who initially registered it
is no longer involved with sudoroom and is not answering emails. I
have been sending him emails approximately every two months for the
past year and a half, most of them along the lines of "hey can you
please help us or let us know what you need? thanks!"

The learning was very social and using an entire whiteboard was really fun.

great way to get to know other people, and create and draw and visualize
complex problems.

We’d had the idea to end each session with a poem, which was more
challenging than we thought.
However, it is a little useful to write a short piece to assess what you’ve
learned that night.
*Start out by learning from examples,*
*Build upon the basics and progress slowly, absorbing all,*
*Surround yourself with smart people,*
*Begin with simple recursion problems, *
*Tweak the code,*
*then dip your toes into the advanced theory like djikstra *
*Get the hell away from a computer*

yar and i agreed to talk about eian moon tomorrow b4 the delegates meeting,
however, all he did was annoy me by taking so long to leave after i asked
him to.
though i don't understand baps' seemingly ambiguous membership policy, i.e.
once a member always a member? if you teach a class, are you a member? do
members get keys to omni door? etc., it might be appropriate to loop them
into the discussion since eian might be a member of baps. james moon was
more or less being vouched for by matt stewart who has quite a bit of
background info on eian & james moons' recent interactions...i spoke w/matt
s. today about it.
finally, i want to thank those members who have supported me during a

Hey all,
Wrote up a simple protocol and evaluated some prices for the dearth of
lockers we currently have:
https://sudoroom.org/wiki/Lockers
If we reach capacity, we should be able to bring in $460 / month.
I'm going to buy some locks and put latches on all the currently
un-latch-able lockers.

My personal opinion is that James Moon should be banned. I have not
met him personally, but I have talked to a number of people who felt
unsafe during his outbursts and yelling sprees in July. He has a very
sordid history which I won't go into here, but is searchable online.
The only reason he wasn't formally banned is that he ragequit himself
and nobody expected him to return.
I have had nothing but good experiences with Eian Moon, so this
surprises me. He's helped out with the building working group - helped
me hang the big white door from La Commune to the basement. He's
participating in Becoming Omni planning process, in the "invitations"
subgroup along with Matt Senate. He's also teaching a Public School
class, which is on their calendar:

I've emailed Eian Moon and Robb, requesting to talk in person outside
of Omni. I will try to play that role. I'm not really interested in
mediating with James Moon, given everything I know about him.

late last night, i had to ban ian moon for verbally & physically
threatening(cane) james moon with a weapon (moon vs moon, lol).
it took about 45 min. to actually get him out of the building & then he got
back in w/jeremy (sudoroom member).
he said that he would be back in 2 weeks & there was nothing we could do to
keep him out of the building when he returns.
i feel like i should just start an omni non-member bullshit blog so as not

There's already an omni-mediation list and an omni-discuss list. I
think sudo-discuss is NOT the place for this. Sudoroom is just a
hackerspace inside the Omni, and it sounds like the people involved
were not Sudoroom members nor did they claim to be, and the events did
not happen inside Sudoroom.

sudofriends,
This is just an FYI, that foolsFury Theater Co. is renting the Disco room
for rehearsals many nights throughout the next month or so, and they will
be using one of the trunk lockers on the north west end of sudoroom. Yar

Just letting folks know in case they see strangers walking through. They

i am really tired of playing cat-n-mouse w/the outside doors at the omni.
a day or two ago i told jerome that i would be moving for a permanent ban
on whoever i discovered was propping the doors open.
after i let jerome in the building this morning, i discovered that jerome
had left the shattuck side/ballroom door open so i asked him "what the
fuck" he left the door open for.
rather than answer my question he took offense at my tone (understandably
as i was angry) got in my face pointing and tried to start a fight with me
with
i get that jerome helps out around here but leaving the doors open for
anyone to walk in at anytime completely negates the occasional floor
mopping that he does, imho.
i will not be letting jerome in anytime soon
~r
as i am on a temp hiatus from enforcing our building policy until i feel i
am being supported in same, i declined to wake, ian moon (non-member), or
ask him to leave when i found him sleeping in backspace this morning.
matt, kelley & brenden were in sudoroom when i left last night. not sure if
he was allowed to stay somehow or if he just got back in...upstairs corner
window (by til) was open and ppl know how to climb in.
whoever closes the building needs to remember to close the window too.
btw, shattuck door was open this morning but it was the first time in days
that i found the shattuck door or the discoroom door open which is actually
very good news

Hi I was in the space last night (Friday) on the tail end of the Linux
install fest fridays.Lately fridays have been kind of dead. I think
Thursday is our most happening night, and usually the Omni is pretty empty
on Friday.
There were some cool guests dropping by, and from what i heard they were
ready to go, but they seemed let down by the lack of people and activity. i
don't think they said it out loud.
I'm wondering: what do you think? Should we move installfest to the
Thursday party night? that might also interfere with the javascript evening.
Or should we rephrase the Friday night expectations so that people don't
expect it to be this organized, orderly event? I think the thursdays are
more of a hangout night, and there are other groups there Thursday but
Friday not so much.
I'm fine going there and hacking in peace and quiet. But I don't want
people to leave disappointed.

we the people,
I don't know, I don't have the time or skill set to be involved in this. If
you're willing to lead this effort, could you take care of all these
details? Could you volunteer so they stop sending me these requests?
I think it'd be cool if a man handled any child-related stuff. All too
often I see hackerspaces or community groups dump all this work on women,
even women who aren't suited for it. (sort of how usually women end up
doing the secretarial work and cooking)

What are their ages and interests--what are they asking for?

I couldn't for the life of me find a proper set of keyboard keys on the

So here's what seems to be the world's first set of open source keys. I
built it to emulate the black keys on a Hammond b-3 (midi controller coming
soon) but I'm sure someone here will find another use for this.

The key to mastering any skill is nothing more than passion and
persistence.
Our PA fell through and we are in desperate need of a PA for the 8 bands
that are playing. Is there one at the omni we can borrow for friday night
only?
Hey all,
Has anyone seen a box (or multiple boxes) containing groups of the items in
the subject of this message?
I had been collecting and storing PC components at the blue table in the
middle of sudo room (pc repair station), including cables, PCI cards (e.g.
video and sound cards), as well as sticks of RAM (new and old ones--useful
for repairs). There were also several hard drives (mostly older IDE drives)
on the metal shelves along the south wall in sudo room.
Has anyone seen these items or know where they may have ended up?
Bummed,
Matt
It's neither my skill set nor my specialty so if someone is good at this could they do this once or twice every two months ? Hopefully not anything horrible like teaching girls how to build electronics with jewelry only or anything else beauty based and hopefully not with this awful girl specific pink you crap I see flooding the market .
I simply cannot do it because my time is limited
