was paper in the tray or in the manual-feed loader)

right track now. It was the printer with an asset label but without a

yeah i think the printer without a paper tray might have had other problems.
It can be operated without a paper tray by faking the detection switch, but
then you find out that it had some other error which i should have written
down.
if anyone else is interested in playing with these printers, please join the
discussion and perhaps we can meet up at the space sometime and play with them.

you can also do the thing Morgan was doing, where you spray paint the copper
and then use the laser cutter to remove paint wherever you want, and then etch.
and there's always the toner-transfer method if you can get a laser printer to
work.

Tried both of those methods, they aren’t accurate and “pretty” enough.
They both have serious limitations. The best I have found so far is to use
a vinyl cutter to make a adhesive stencil. This works the best so far but
there is a pretty hard limitation of about .9mm on the somewhat crap cutter
that I have access to.

Actually it just occurred to me...
If you wrote an app that calculates the screen size and displays Gerber
images, then with a blue filter and fresnel lens you could easily expose
photosensitive PCBs (and even align two side ones).

Ya, but pyralux, isn’t photosensitive. I wonder if there is some kind of
brush-on polymer paint that is UV curable and the rest can be washed off?
The UV cured portion would change from being somehow water soluble to
acetone/alcohol soluble. Maybe that’s even what you’re talking about.

The UV cured portion would change from being somehow water soluble to
acetone/alcohol soluble. Maybe that’s even what you’re talking about.

If you wrote an app that calculates the screen size and displays Gerber
images, then with a blue filter and fresnel lens you could easily expose
photosensitive PCBs (and even align two side ones).

BTW. The Thermal press-n-peel transfer toner method works better than
expected on Pyralux using a thermal laminator. Probably gets down to a
resolution of around .6mm with some pen touch ups. Remarkably, there is no
instructions about using a laminator for this method, only an iron, which
absolutely does NOT work at well at all.
