That's ridiculous. I really hate to hear that CCL has been getting pooped on so much
recently.
I completely concur with you, Patrick; I think we'd all love to think that the Omni,
as a whole, was much much safer for people, and things.
Unfortunately, as we've seen with the handful of recent incidents, it's not (yet)
as good as it could be.
Until we iron out some of the safety/accountability kinks, maybe a temporary keypad on the
Sudo/CCL room entrances *should* be implimented...
It's a shame to think we would ever need that, but as it stands, I feel like 2141
might have been far less susceptible to some of these issues; in that, at least, it is
much easier for random people to wander into Omni and thusly Sudo/CCL.
That's great for the community aspect of Omni, but currently, there is just too much
abuse by non-members, for the comfort of being able to leave our precious machines,
resources, and donation boxes around, unattended, willy,-nilly.
I propose that Sudo and CCL meet up officially, at some point soon, to discuss the idea of
better security practices within our shared space.
Some aspects that have been floating around discussion are: keypad entry, system closed
cameras on our most important resources (server, toolshed, labratory, etc), members-only
hours (e.i. 10pm to 10am, w dependencies, can easily be implimented in conjuction with
keypad).

Just noticed that some thief emptied the donation

Perhaps not surprising with all the random drunk people roaming
around.
And yeah, guess we shouldn't have left it
sitting around unattended.
But
I'd rather live in an environment where I do

vandalism and theft for everything we leave out.
