Latest update is that one aeration fountain is now running at LM and another one was purchased thanks to a generous donor today. Follow @damontighe on Instagram. I used to work in a cannery in Alaska. At one point multiple tonnes worth of crates of fish could not be processed fast enough and rotted. Lake Merritt smells much stronger than what I smelled at the cannery. Maybe. The end is in sight in terms of the bloom. There's barely any aquatic life left. It would probably take about 10 yrs to even partially recover, and that's assuming ideal conditions. It's been important to add observations of aquatic life around the bay to understand exactly what triggered this extensive disaster in the first place. No reason it couldn't just come back around tomorrow for all we know.
