Hello, I was asked to post this message about a bunch of possible parts here by a member. Let me know if anyone finds this useful.
My name is Gideon Weisberg, and work I with the non-profit Riekes Center in Menlo Park (mentoring in sports, fitness, the arts, music, and nature awareness). Years ago (10?) we were given a Bod-Pod to allow the fitness department to offer a (then) state-of-the-art body assessment system to low-income students, as well as the other athletes who train at our center.
While at the time this version of the Bod-Pod system ran about $50,000, it is now obsolete. It likely has lots of useful parts for a tinkering lab. I am looking for ways to find a new home for the system, and am especially interested in helping any useful parts find their way into innovative reuse or educational programs (or at least becomes somebody's weird furniture/studio prop).
Any proceeds from selling this system will go directly into our programs (the first $750 I can raise will be buying new tires for our passenger van). The Bod Pod (with it's computer station, manual, and calibration/maintenance records) can be delivered within the Bay Area.
I am open to thoughts and suggestions regarding the ultimate fate of this devise. I don't want it to go in a land-fill.
Thank you for your consideration,
Gideon Weisberg

Greetings cronies,
Every Sunday Occupy Oakland meets at OGP (e.g. Frank Ogawa Plaza) at 2PM
for what is rather grandiloquently still referred to as General
Assembly, but lately it has been colder then the proverbial bucket full
of penguin guano and we would like to have our meetings at the sudoroom
common space through the end of January if no one objects unduly. These
days GA is perhaps a dozen folks, mostly dotards like me, unfortunately
predominantly cursed with a Y chromosome. We almost never riot and
torch the town these days, mostly just rehash the previous weeks'
political actions and plan the next weeks' protests against the evil
empire. These days our main focus is labor & debtor solidarity,
anti-repression organizing (e.g. police brutality and surveillance), and
attempts to protect the commons & the environment.
Also, we would like to participate in the crypto-parties next Sunday and
in January. We certainly want to figure out how to protect our own
communications from being unduly monitored by the state and Daniel & I
may try and train a few of our folks how to use the Wordpress interface
for our web site. Anywho, I plan to attend the sudoroom weekly meeting
tomorrow after the Oakland Privacy Working Group
<https://sudoroom.org/ai1ec_event/organize-against-the-oakland-domain-awaren…>
meeting and see if anyone objects to our presence for the next month and
a half.
Solidarity whenever,
Ed the Red
Hey sudo,
Tomorrow's weekly meeting is an important one! How can we clarify our
membership process to better onboard new folks and maintain a stable income
from dues? What do people think about moving to one of our new potential
spaces <https://sudoroom.org/wiki/Spaces#Current>?
Add to the agenda: https://pad.riseup.net/p/sudoroommeeting
Cheers,
Jenny

This is in line with near-inflation rate and agreed upon in the lease as I
recall.

Hi Matt & Eddan-
In accordance with the terms of the lease, there will be an increase due on
1/1/14 in the amount of $45/month (new rent = $1545/month). I just plumb
forgot to do on 12/1, so this year you got an extra month at the old rate
:-).
Thanks-
Laurie
Hey all,
The "Wobbly Wheels" union pedicab collective is seeking materials to build
pedicabs. Anyone have access or connections to resources for mig welding
(especially steel)?
+ Welding Shields (number 10 masks)
+ Steel
+ Bike Frames
+ Welding Wire
+ Full Pedicabs
+ More!

Hey all, what's the status of this? What parts do we still need? I'd
love to help pay for them if someone knows what parts to buy. And
anything else I need to do to get our printer working ASAP. Thanks!
I just found out today, Waste Management are trying to bill Sudo Room (and
therefore BAPS) for 2 extra recycling bins and one extra green-waste bin
that we don't have.
That is, WM thinks we have always had 3x 96gal recycling bins and 2x 64gal
green-waste bins in all. Whereas Sudo/BAPS have only ever had 1x 96gal
recycling, and 1x 64gal green waste bin (* technically our green bin is
also 96gal, but since WM apparently didn't actually have any 64gal-sized
bins, they just give us the 96gal and charge us for 64gal.)
So far as I can tell, what happened is: WM assigned an additional, second
recycling+green waste account to Sudo, that is not ours. This additional
secondary bill is past due ~4 mo to the tune of ~$500.
This bogus bill was not visible to us online, and I only found out about it
today after getting hit up by WM's collection department on the phone,
whereupon I asked them to email me copies of the invoices.
After looking the bogus bill over, today at around 12noon, I called WM back
and wrangled with the billing dept phone rep "Christopher", who
generated a *Case
ID # 2377511* for the accounting department to "review" this screw-up.
Although it's not hard to see the error, as it is a second bill for twice
as many recycling bins at the same address for the same time period.
Therefore, before interfacing with WM, please take note of the following
information:
Sudo room's CORRECT recycling and green waste account # (paid in full
through Nov):
*699-0009853-2216-3* (<-- right)
This other INCORRECT recycling/green account, misattributed to Sudo:
065-4415376-2216-5 (<-- wrong)
SUDO/BAPS'ERS: DO NOT EVER PAY THIS ACCOUNT.
Attached are the two different recycling+greenwaste invoices for the month
of October - one labelled *correct* (and paid), and one labelled
*incorrect*(unpaid). If you talk to WM, please refer to these. I know
these aren't the
latest bills, but it's simpler to discuss them with WM without referring
past due amounts.
For the record, Sudo has a separately-billed WM account just for the
*garbage*, which is: 065-4415386-2216-4. The garbage account has thus far
not been confused, just the recycling/green.
Best,
David
